Christmastime

I love Christmas music. I know that it is early to say that, but I do and I listen to it all year long. It seems to calm me down, when I listen to it on my free time. Now my siblings don't like it, but I sure do. I love the spirit that it gives me, because I know that when I listen to it, I can just be myself.

My top 15 favorite Christmas songs are:
15. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
14. Silver Bells
13. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
12. Don't Save It All For Christmas Day
11. Merry Christmas Darling
10. Oh Holy Night
9. Last Christmas
8. All I Want For Christmas is You
7. Home for the Holidays
6. Feliz Navidad
5. Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
4. Carol of the Bells
3. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
2. Sleigh Ride
1. Baby It's Cold Outside

As you can see, Christmas music is my favorite genre of music to listen to. I can do a few instrumentals because I have taught myself the timing of the introductions for when I should start to sing. The first challenge of an instrumental that I had was with the song "Sleigh Ride". I had to watch the Will Ferrell movie, Elf, over and over and over again, until I got it. Now when I hear that instrumental, since I know the timing, I can sing it like I'm not even trying to be with the timing of the song, because it's natural to me now.

When I did the song "Silver Bells", it was a bit more of a challenge because I didn't know all of the lyrics until my sophomore year of high school and I am still learning that timing, but I have become very good at that one also.

So you can see that I love Christmas music, and enjoy the peace that it brings to me, when I listen to it. For me, it is a stress reliever that I can come home to and be alone, and just be myself when I sing those songs.

My Family

My Family consists of many people: my immediate family back home, my church family, and of course, my PBC family at my school. Here's my immediate family:

Daddy: My daddy coaches baseball, is the principal of my high school, is the Children's Pastor (along with Mommy), and works as a Bible college professor.

Mommy: My mommy teaches high school English, is the vice principal, and works with Daddy in Children's Ministry. She could have gone to George Fox University and played college basketball for them, but decided that she was going to go to Portland Bible College and get her Bachelor's degree in Theology.

Ashley: Is my first sister (1.5 years younger than me) and is a senior in high school. She plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. She wanted to be a cheerleader, but decided not to when she started basketball.

Heidi: Is my second sister (3.5 years younger) and a sophomore in high school. She played volleyball and decided that she was going to be a cheerleader this year.

Andrew: Is my only brother (4.5 years apart) and an eighth grader. He likes to skateboard, play guitar, baseball, basketball, and like the family, enjoys watching football. He wants to play professional baseball or be a pastor as far as I know.

My PBC family:

Katie Schaub- My older sister here on the campus, who is engaged to be married and I am happy for her. I love the fact that she is always there to give me a hug before I go to bed at night or just to talk to if I need someone. We have a special name for when we talk and we call it 'sister time', because I am happy that she is my older sister.

Julia Cretaro- My sweet thing and my best friend up here at the college. I love the fact that she is always there for me to hang out with her and I also love that she and I can have sometime to talk to each other. She is definitely one of my best friends here (outside of Katie, Angie, Cassidy, Melody, and Crystal Wade)

Angie LaCosta- Another of my older sisters on campus. She is the one that always encourages me to hang out with people and enjoy the sunshine. She is one of the best people that has happened in my life and I am happy for her.

Cassidy Gardner- When I met Cassidy, I embraced her and showed her around the school. She was happy that another girl had been in her class and I had the job of taking care of what she needed during the week.

Melody Reyes- We have the same advisor and we like to talk a lot. She will be traveling home and I won't be able to see her for a while, so I am kinda sad, but in a way, I'm happy that I can have people here for me.

Crystal Wade- I love that girl, because she is just a friend that you can trust with a secret and if I need her to, she will tell Katie Schaub where I am at in life and I am happy for her.

Angela Miller-- My On Campus Mother that I always like to talk to. She lives on the hill, so she doesn't have to walk that far. I enjoy her company, because I can be my true self and not just be the one that people think that I am, but be the sweet lady that God has called me to be. She may not be my advisor but she did say that if I needed someone to talk to, I can always talk to her.

I'mdreamingofaWhiteChristmas

My most favorite holiday is Christmas. I love the closeness that I can have with my family, but there are disadvantages also. I love to blast Christmas music to the rooftops and my family doesn't like to listen to it, until November and after Thanksgiving, but I listen to it anytime that I want to. My favorite Christmas song is "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". I don't know why, but it's always been my favorite and when I am at home alone on Christmas break, I will just crank up the Christmas music and watch every Christmas movie that my family owns, because I want to be in the season of the birth of Christ.
I enjoy singing all of the Christmas songs that I know and am known for doing some instrumentals that I have taught myself. Those are the songs: "Sleigh Ride", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Silver Bells", "The Carol of the Bells", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", and "I'll Be Home for Christmas". I am in the process of learning different songs instrumentals, so that I can sing them when I hear them, at the time of the songs intro.
It's easy for me to name the song that I am singing and I try to do my best to name the person who sings it also. But of course, my parents don't like it when I do that, so I have had to stop myself and one of my sisters and I do get into a competition to see who can name the most Christmas songs and who sings them.
The last time I said and sang the song, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" it came true. So I have to watch what I am singing and saying.

AxmakerThanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the jobs that all of us have; I always get the food placement on the table and making food with my mom is so much fun.
It starts on the Wednesday before, because we have to prepare all of the food; the turkey, Ashley and I always make cookies for the family, my mom makes a macaroni salad, and we eat whatever we want to before we get to Thursday. We watch loads and loads of football (family sport) and do a lot during the Thanksgiving holiday when nothing is on TV. I normally blast the Christmas music, if it is playing on the radio and I enjoy doing that, because I love the sound of Christmas being in the air at the time of the holiday with my family.
The food is so much fun, because it is good quality time for me to spend with my family before I go and do something with friends or whatever I want to do the next day.
We eat turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni salad, corn, and things that I can't remember at the moment, but all I remember is that we watch many football games, so that we know what team is playing against who on that day.
WE also start to watch Christmas movies and look for things that we want to put on our Christmas list and we tell the whole family that happens to be there at the time what we want for Christmas.

Thanks for reading about my family's Thanksgiving festivities!!!
